Esta publicación incluye obras para órgano y teclado de compositores de la época de Bach. Por primera vez, la versión original de la famosa Toccata de Bach en Fa mayor se publica en una edición basada en única fuente, el manuscrito de Bach P 803 en la Biblioteca Estatal de Berlín. La colección también incluye una partita de Friedrich Erhard Niedt y una sonata de Johann Adolph Scheibe, publicado por primera vez en una edición moderna. Esto hace a la edición los primeros en dar una visión general de la música para teclado de la época de Bach sobre todo sin pedales, con un repertorio de las cuales sólo unas pocas piezas pueden sobrevivir. La edición crítica se basa estrechamente en sobrevivir a las fuentes e incluye un comentario crítico, la lista de fuentes, numerosos facsímiles y un prólogo extenso con capítulos sobre las técnicas utilizadas en la preparación de la edición y la práctica de la ejecución.
